Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 March 2026
Voice Arena ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Voice Arena (the "Service"), how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
We act as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy applies to all users of the Service worldwide, with additional rights for residents of the European Economic Area and United Kingdom ("Europe") described in the section below.
1. What We Collect
Information you provide
- Text prompts — the text you type or paste into the Service to generate audio comparisons.
- Votes — your preference selection (A or B) after listening to audio clips, together with the timestamp and language selected.
- Email address — if you voluntarily sign up to our waitlist or notification list. Providing an email is entirely optional.
- Feedback — any text you submit via the feedback form, including an optional email address.
Information collected automatically
- IP address — used solely for rate limiting (we cap the number of requests you can make per minute to ensure fair access for everyone). We do not use IP addresses for tracking or profiling.
- Browser and device metadata — browser type, operating system, and preferred language, collected to ensure the Service functions correctly and to detect geolocation at a country level for language-preference research.
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, and interactions within the Service, collected via server logs.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Providing the Service — processing your prompts through third-party TTS providers to generate audio, serving audio clips, and recording your votes.
- Rate limiting — using your IP address to enforce fair-use limits.
- Building the leaderboard — aggregating votes to calculate Elo scores and produce community rankings, including breakdowns by language and cultural region.
- Research and improvement — analysing aggregate, anonymised usage patterns to understand how people perceive AI voices across different languages and regions. This is our core research mission.
- Notifications — if you provided your email address, we will notify you when leaderboard results are published. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Security and fraud prevention — detecting and blocking vote manipulation or abuse of the Service.
- Legal compliance — complying with applicable laws and responding to lawful requests from public authorities.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:
- TTS providers — your text prompts are transmitted to ElevenLabs, Gradium, and Deepdub to generate audio. Each provider's own privacy policy governs their use of your data. By using the Service you acknowledge this transmission.
- Infrastructure providers — we use Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run) to host and run the Service. GCP may process your data as a sub-processor.
- Legal obligation — we may disclose data when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers — if Voice Arena is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
4. Data Retention
- Audio clips — deleted automatically within 5 minutes of generation. We do not retain generated audio.
- Text prompts — retained in server logs for up to 30 days, then purged, unless kept in anonymised/aggregated form for research.
- Votes — retained indefinitely as aggregated leaderboard data. Individual votes may be purged if fraudulent activity is detected.
- Email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- IP addresses — retained in server logs for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use only technically necessary cookies (for example, to remember your language preference within a session). We do not use advertising or analytics cookies from third parties. We do not use tracking pixels or fingerprinting techniques.
6. Children
The Service is not directed at or intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We implement technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk of processing, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Transfers
Our servers are hosted in the European Union (Google Cloud, europe-west1 region). However, your text prompts are transmitted to TTS providers which may be based outside the EEA. Where personal data is transferred outside Europe, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards, or we disclose the transfer in the data-sharing section above and obtain your acknowledgment through your use of the Service.
9. Your Rights (GDPR / EEA & UK)
If you are located in Europe, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data where there is no lawful reason to retain it.
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
Our legal bases for processing are: legitimate interests (operating and improving the Service, rate limiting, research); consent (email notifications); and legal obligation (compliance with applicable law).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@singandclap.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (e.g., the CNIL in France, or the ICO in the UK).
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy. For material changes, we will provide additional notice (such as an email, if you are on our lists).
